Residents from Lifeview Willow Wood gained a deeper understanding of the important work being undertaken at the Victorian Pride Centre (VPC) during a VIP guided tour at the St Kilda venue last week.
The residents’ enthusiasm as they were guided through the impressive building was palpable. They listened intently, asked lots of questions, remarked on multiple occasions how important it was to treat people with kindness, and marvelled at the architecture and artwork on display.
“It was wonderful for the residents to see first-hand the work that goes on at Victorian Pride Centre and learn more about Lifeview’s ongoing partnership with the venue,” Lifeview CEO Samantha Jewell said.
“They took a genuine interest. It was great to hear them asking so many questions and see them taking everything in. They had a great time.”
Lifeview and VPC have a bond dating back prior to the centre opening.
In October 2019, Lifeview joined VPC as a Foundation Partner to support the establishment of the VPC and shine a light on the challenges faced by older members of LGBTIQ+ communities.
Lifeview was also the first private aged care provider to achieve Rainbow Tick accreditation and will soon begin construction on Australia’s premiere LGBTIQ+ and friends aged care home in the heart of Prahran.
“We’re passionate about standing with and supporting LGBTIQ+ communities and our residents tell us often that this is something that is very important to them, too,” Jewell said.
