Lifeview's four award winning aged care homes are this week celebrating the growing global awareness event – Nutrition and Hydration Week.

The event, which started, and is managed in the United Kingdom, has grown in the last couple of years, and is now a global celebration and education week for those in the hospital, and aged care sector. The week is a reminder that food and drink are essential components to physical and mental well-being.

Lifeview partook in Nutrition and Hydration Week’s largest cream tea party Guinness World Record attempt last year, and has expanded on the event this year to encompass a week of fun events for its residents and staff.

Lifeview’s Nutrition and Hydration Week will feature Milkshake Monday, Tea for Twosday, Watermelon Wednesday with mocktails and the classic movie “Cocktail”, Thrilling Thursday, and finish with all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day.

“Food and the dining experience are very important to us at Lifeview. Meal times and our menus are designed to be an event, something to look forward to, Lifeview CEO Madeline Gall said.

“Nutrition and Hydration Week is an important but fun reminder about the significance good food plays in the lives of older Australians.  It also gives residents the chance to try new and different foods in a relaxed social setting.

“Hydration is also especially important in the Australian summer, so coming up with new and novel ways to encourage residents to drink more assists us to ensure their fluid intake is adequate”, she added.

Each Lifeview home and corporate office will also host a Smoothie Bike for a day, where residents and staff pedal for 30 seconds and are then rewarded for their efforts with a delicious, healthy smoothie.
